It's not too hard, but it is time-consuming. Just look at my ID thumb. It's comprised of about 12 frames, If I remember right, but the sprite work took weeks.
I must congratulate your effort on this, however, as it is well done! (And like you, I'm a total newb with pixel gifs)

yeah, I'm only just now really getting a sense for how long these sprite things take. I've got a newfound respect for the art team on Street Fighter III. criminy that game must've taken FOREVER.
